In pursuance of the provisions of the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganization Act, 2014, Central Government has opened NIDM Southern Campus at APHRDI, Bapatla.

A campus of National Institute of Disaster Management, was inaugurated at HRD Institute at Bapatla on Monday the 5th of February 2018 .

Inaugurating the programme held on Monday, Mr. Chakrapani DG HRDI AP highlighted the importance of planned approach in Disaster risk reduction and role of NIDM. He also reiterated the relevance of housing the second campus of NIDM in the State so that the needs of this part of the country could be addressed adequately.

NIDM’s Southern campus would be focusing more on ground level issues, district and local planning, last mile connectivity and mainstreaming disaster management into development related issues as are relevant to the region, he said.

Short term courses

Five short term courses have been scheduled in the months of February and March, 2018. The first two national programmes are being organised on two prominent themes, Psychosocial Care in Disasters during 5-9 February, 2018 and Coastal Community Resilience duringFebruary 7-9, where senior officials and experts from various States and Union Territories are participating.

In addition to NDRF, SDRF officials, relevant faculty and NGO professionals working in the areas of disaster anagement, experts from NIDM New Delhi, NIMHANS Bangalore and BITS Hyderabad are also participating for taking specialised training sessions and exercises.
